Iroh and the council insist the Fire Nation needs a visible symbol of unity with the other nations.
So Iroh, Chief Hakoda, and the council propose a political marriage.
Not just any marriage. One between Katara, Master Waterbender and the Chief of the Southern Water Tribe’s Daughter and Zuko, the new Fire Lord.

Katara was supposed to infiltrate the Fire Nation and assassinate Fire Lord Ozai. That had been the initial plan, anyway.
Funny, isn’t it? How plans always have the nasty tendency to fall apart.
First day on the job, instead of slithering into Ozai’s bed and introducing him to the delicate art of bloodbending, Katara experienced a slight… deviation. A rather significant, throbbing deviation, to be precise.
Through a series of unfortunate circumstances, she found herself quite thoroughly impaled on the Fire Prince’s cock, wondering with increasing hysteria where it had all gone wrong.
She was royally fucked. Both figuratively and oh-so literally.
He was her sin. And she wanted to drown in him.

She learns very quickly that even though the war is over a century of hostilities are not so easy to cool, and she leaves home once again to go to Caldera. While trying to come to grip with the life altering news, Zuko is struggling being the Fire Lord. A hundred years of strife finds him on a tight rope while he also tries to unravel the corruption that still lingers from within the palace walls. Katara and Zuko try to figure out where they stand with one another as the consequences from the Avatar's actions spurs on a new threat.
