All those Near Death Experiences have consequences for Buck. Just not the one he’s expecting.

For the past few weeks, Buck has been seeing strange things. It started with a glimpse of a shadow on the corner of his eyes, when he turned to look at it directly, it’s gone. It unsettles him the more it happens.Eventually, the shadows grew sharper, more solid. It vaguely looks like a human shaped shadow, it’s everywhere he goes. The supermarket, the park, even the station. Over time it grew even clearer and took on features of people, people he didn’t know and never met before. They seem to stare at him, with those empty eyes of theirs.
Buck doesn’t know what to do, so he decides to pretend that it was all a hallucination, brought on by stress. But hallucination can’t knock down books from the table, can’t leave hand shaped marks on his windows. Hallucination also doesn’t leave him cold to the bone when it passes through him. -

“Maybe he should have died under the truck, it certainly would make things easier for all of us.” Eddie's voice echoes on the loft along with all the other firefighters' laughter.
......There's a loud snap, but nobody seems to hear it. Buck's body goes rigid, his grip on the thing he's washing gets tighter until his knuckle turns white. His face turns blank.
Buck stares at the knife he's holding tightly.

Summary
Eddie saw the patient lying on the street, blood all around them. There's a few produce lying around and some broken beer can, looks like the patient was just done with grocery shopping when they got hit. It's only when he gets closer that he recognizes who the patient is.
His blood turns cold as he sees a broken and bloodied Buck lying on the ground.

Summary
Buck is no stranger to being alone. He spent years fending for himself after leaving the house he grew up in, and even the years before that, he didn’t really have anyone.
He thought he had found a family with the 118. He had a captain he came to see as a father, found a mother in Athena and a wider family from his coworkers and theirs. Buck even thought he might have a chance at something more with the man who was his best friend and his son. He should have known better.-+-
A post-lawsuit fic (kind of) where Buck leaves and never really had any intention of coming back. The universe has different plans for him though.

This in and of itself is not unusual. What is unusual is that Eskel’s goat reeks of chamomile—the very same oil that Jaskier had used on his… Geralt blinks at the animal, and the animal blinks back, its soft, downy fur combed and plaited into a beautiful network of braids. It’s… weird.
