Summary
At a young age, Hermione MacEcrae was orphaned after aurors killed her parents. Placed into a muggle orphanage at the behest of Albus Dumbledore, she was raised by the Grangers, who became abusive. First few chapters are background, but quickly moves to Half-Blood Prince, where the story truly starts. Luna/Ginny is mostly background, but they are the main supporting characters while Hermione is at Hogwarts, and during the war. Bellatrix is reforming, Hermione also brings along Narcissa and Draco. Dumbledore is a munipulative prick, Hermione is in Ravenclaw and isn't that close to Harry and Ron. Influenced by beforyouspeak's The Black Prophecy, Maxx_Mouse1441's Daughter of Darkness, and SkullChaser's The Once and Future Queen (all great Bellamione works).

And once again, Hermione’s brain was gone. Off. In the gutter. Derailing itself with horrifying efficiency.

She tore her eyes away, mentally superimposing the image of her grandfather at Christmas – spectacularly pissed, stark bollock naked under a tartan robe, arguing with the angels in the tree. Still not enough. So she added the memory of that one chapter in Magical Maladies and Their Management, the one with close-up photos of Spattergroit pustules. That did the trick.
Refreshed, centred, pure of thought, she cleared her throat and continued the tour.
Or: Bellatrix Lestrange is supposed to stop committing crimes. Hermione Granger is supposed to stay impartial. Neither of them is very good at following instructions. There’s a dead man, a collapsing investigation, and a rapidly collapsing sense of professional distance.
(Works both as a sequel to Of Magic, Mayhem and Poor Decisions and as a standalone if you don’t like slow buildings.)

“…Crucio!” Black repeated, this time with more fervour.
Yet, still nothing. Hermione noticed from the corner of her eye that Narcissa had reentered the room and was watching the encounter with nearly as much confusion as the two of them. Distantly, she wondered if the sensible option here would have been for her to pretend to be tortured.
Incensed, Bellatrix’s eyes widened, burning with a newfound fury. “CRUCIO, CRUCIO, CRUCIO!” She screamed out the curses in rapid succession, voice tinging with desperation. Hermione began to get the hazy feeling in the back of her mind that something was terribly wrong.

In an alternate universe where you cannot intentionally harm your soulmate, Bellatrix and Hermione find out that they are each others in the worst possible way. Convinced it’s a curse, they relocate to Black Manor in an attempt to break their “fake” bond. However, they begin to slowly find themselves falling for each other in the process, despite the odds.

Her high waisted jean shorts cut off at her butt. No, above her butt, the sloped edges of her ass hanging out the back. Despite the fact that she looks no more than 5’4”, her legs look impossibly long. The expanse of smooth, milky skin stretches down to her feet, adored in high heeled wedges completely inappropriate for the venue. Her brunette hair is tied up in a ponytail, but still reaches halfway down her back in messy waves. She’s wearing a deep purple crochet top, cropped to above her belly button. As she heads for the cooler without a word, Rio can see the criss-crossed ties forming three perfect bows across her bare back.
