Chris didn’t manage to answer him. He just fixed his eyes on Leon’s smile- on his teeth.
Leon leant in once more and kissed Chris. He kissed back automatically, body relaxing, grip finding its purpose again. Sharp fingernails bit into pale skin, which would ordinarily have Leon giving in entirely.
But Leon was a curious creature. An investigator- and he’d just been handed a lead that he desperately wanted to chase.
He knew Chris liked his teeth. It was obvious. Grazes of fangs on skin were the easiest way to get Chris to cave and take control immediately- but Leon had never so viciously bitten him, had never shown his strength, and that had seemed to do something entirely new to Chris. Something Leon had never seen.

Chris went still.
Leon sat back again, certain he’d won.
“Didn’t know that was something you wanted.” It took Leon’s alcohol-soaked brain a second to realize Chris had spoken again, and his voice had dropped about an octave lower. His expression was carefully blank, but his eyes–those fucking huge brown cow eyes of his were burning with lust. “From me, at least.”
Oh.
Huh.

“I don’t care for mine,” Barnaby snapped back his irritation skirting close to anger.
Kotetsu reached out for him, touching his arm, making Bunny face him. “I care about it,” he said seriously.

“I knew I'd find you around here.”
Leon jolts awake, and for a second, he’s only aware of the pink, flickering neon over the counter and the clock ticking right above it. He doesn’t reach for his holster—he knows that voice all too well. He glances up, blinking slowly, to meet Chris’s gaze.
“Your stealth’s gotten better.” Leon gestures at the mug growing cold on the table in front of him. “Before you say anything unpleasant—that’s coffee.”
Chris scoffs, then smiles.
“I wouldn't blame you for indulging in a drink after the night you just had.”
“Really?” Leon inhales deeply, holding back a coughing fit that he chalks up to an entire building collapsing on him, just a couple of hours ago. “Aging is making you soft, Captain Redfield.”
There’s a mineral aftertaste at the back of Leon’s throat, and there was a time when he would have considered watering it down with a drink, falling into his glass until morning only to forget the sound of his own name. But the man he is today can only wonder if it will eventually wash off, or if Raccoon City’s crumbling foundations will somehow always stick with him.

Flirting has always come naturally to Luis. For a man in his position, it was expected that someone like him would be. If anything, it was really just a way to protect himself. He’d flirt to get on people’s good sides, so they would like him more. He’d flirt to make people let their guards down, but it was never anything more than suave words and sweeping gestures. He was good at keeping everyone he met at arm’s length.

Wherein Luis lives, and years later, reconnects with Leon and Ashley. They’ve been through hell together, but they hardly know each other. They’re trying, but Chris and Leon have an unexpected proposal for Luis that will only make things more complicated.

His house is an aging, deep-maroon ranch off a country road where cars pass through the night. The pines swallow everything at this hour, sharp-smelling and unmovable.
He listens. Nothing. No car or motorcycle.
Fine. He’ll show up when he wants.

Summary
There is a tacit understanding between those who constantly live in danger that separation is never too far away. Friends and enemies alike may leave just as suddenly as they arrive, greetings and farewells exchanged as quickly as a rapidly firing gun. However, to worry is to be human, and even though Chris should've grown used to the shadows of death haunting those around him, himself included, the thought of losing a loved one remains a thorn in his heart, one that he always fails to pluck away.
A little #Chreon story set immediately after the ending of RE9: Requiem, featuring an illustration by Brilcrist.
