Summary
Joker’s scent has Bruce’s hackles raised in anticipation of danger - an association he’s unwilling and unable to break. He can’t so easily forget that Joker is a threat. But instead of bolstering his impulse to fight, Bruce’s instincts obscure his goal.
In theory, it should be the same; all he needs to do is subdue Joker and keep him contained. But Joker’s change in dynamic has thrown off the balance. This is no longer a fellow alpha threatening Batman’s territory, challenging his authority.
This is an omega daring Bruce to try and tame him.
