Eddie blinks slowly.
“Your friend Steve, named his dog...Steve?”
The dog sighs. It’s loud enough that Eddie looks down at the dog instead. It lets it’s tongue flop out of it’s mouth; it looks like it’s grinning.

They sat in awkward silence for a few minutes, Steve drumming his fingers on the steering wheel and Eddie looking out the window. Steve had never been great with prolonged silences. That was the only explanation he had for what came out of his mouth next.
“Eddie-will-you-fuck-me?” he said, quickly enough that all the words ran together.
Eddie let out a strangled noise and turned to face Steve. “Clearly I misheard that, Harrington. Come again?”
Steve took a deep breath. “Will you fuck me?” he said, more slowly this time.
“I really did not think I got high yet today,” Eddie said under his breath, shaking his head.
