“You know, I really hadn’t noticed,” Techno says, and there’s something tense in the way he’s holding himself, “But now that you brought it up, maybe we should just avoid the drama. Have we considered askin’ them politely? Or going home? I feel like we should maybe just go home. I’m feeling kind of…sick.” Techno badly fakes a cough.
“Oh, that’s really bad,” Ranboo says, not bothering to look the least bit concerned, “Phil, I think he’s going to die and the only cure is leaving.”
“The only cure is leaving this council meeting right this instant,” Techno says dramatically “Oh, god, I think it’s infectious. Phil, look at Ranboo. He’s so pale half of his face is white.”

We’re not hiding, Quackity wants to say, but while he’s a liar and a cheat and an idiot he isn’t usually dumb enough to call out the rabid wolf in the room. They’re hiding. He doesn’t know what they’re hiding from. The memories have settled somewhere vacant and out of reach, but he knows they’re hiding.

Isn’t it fickle that mere months after Jango Fett escaped from the spice freighter that held him for years if not decades, somehow held him without him managing to escape until right then, but he did, and then months later Count Dooku of Serenno comes with a deal? A damn-near perfect deal, for a man with a spice-damaged brain and a hatred for Jedi?
Isn’t it something, how it all turned out?
Or: Jango never escaped slavery, he just didn’t know it.

The problem, here, is that CC-2224 watches him fall, and CC-2224 knows a coordinated landing when he sees one. He watches his General dive rather than plummet into a pool of water below, and it’s all he can do not to curse.

The counter warbles a song of agreement.
She lives in a nowhere mountain town with more local deer than people. Her house has four bedrooms and all of them are filled. Akallie is happy.
