What if Dean could reach into the empty and pull Cas out? What if the power of love could save the day?
He climbs the hill over the bunker, as far as he can manage before his shaking legs give out under him. He doesn’t want to be found. Doesn’t want to risk Sam (Jack, Eileen, anyone) seeing him like this, having to talk about any of it. He plops down on his ass in the dirt, surrounded by weedy flowers and the faint light of the city, somehow both closer and further away than he remembers.
Breath in.
Breath out.
Dean pulls his knees up, rests his elbows on them, hands on his shoulders, hugging himself like a child. Notices, finally, that his hand is bleeding, blood running down his fingers.
If this was a fairytale, Dean thinks, laying each of his blood-tacky fingers carefully over Cas’ on his shoulder, I could save Cas just like this. Just by putting my hand on his mark, our blood together, I would be able to save him. Blood to Blood. Old magic.Bookmarked by SwampSovereign
