The smile slips off Eddie’s face. His fingers fall out of Buck’s hair, move to his shoulder blade. “Yeah?” he asks, his tone noncommittal.
“Too good to be true,” Buck says, more honest than he thinks he’s going to be.
Eddie blinks again, nods. “Nothing scarier than a miracle,” he agrees.

“Adults?” Eddie asks, inches away from trying to grab the steering wheel again. “You kidnapped me!”
“Kidnapped is such a harsh word, don’t think of it as getting kidnapped,” Buck says quickly, “think of it as an all-expenses paid vacation to Pennsylvania. Doesn’t that sound fun?”

“Did you really think about killing me?”
That wasn't exactly the kind of question he was expecting. Kabru studied Laios' expression. Curious, nervous, but not really concerned. As if he was asking about something embarrassing. “a couple of times,” Kabru admitted, “I considered it.” He was careless enough to mention it out loud. He couldn't deny it now. “I never actually wanted to do it, though,” he added quickly. Sometimes he still felt the temptation, but it was just a momentary weakness, not something he would ever actually consider. But he knew Laios didn't mean those flickers of fancy. He meant the time back in the dungeon, where the temptation to kill Laios was quite a bit stronger.

It wasn't as if he wanted to tell him anything in particular. Maybe he just wanted Kabru to pay attention to him for a change, just for a little bit. He wanted those beautiful eyes to look at him, curious and focused, and just a tad too intense, he wanted Kabru to sit too close to him, like he always did, and lean in to whisper something in his ear. It didn't matter at all what it was. He wanted Kabru to hold his hand in both of his and squeeze, and play with his fingers, and draw shapes on his palm and the back of his hand. Before he knew it, his thoughts wandered in a far more risky direction, and he had to close his legs and bow his head to hide his face, burning with a desire he couldn't hope to hide otherwise. Please, he thought desperately. Please, please, please.
