Summary
Ed and Stede were different genres, and both had reputations which should have turned each other off. But Ed was fascinated by the personification of a human peacock, and Stede was drawn to Ed’s classic bad-boy look. Ed knew Stede was married, even if his sexuality had been rumored about. He’d known plenty of closeted men with kids, and Stede came off too much like a modern Elton John knock-off to be completely straight.
The story of how Ed and Stede met, how their careers in the music industry affected their relationship, and how they eventually work things out in the end.

Ed got word of Stede’s death and now he sees both Stede and Lucius’s ghosts following him around, judging him. He does not handle things well.
Stede is trying his best to get back to Ed and the Revenge via a merchant ship that he's using for his own purposes. He’s handling things surprisingly well.
They meet by chance due to an unseasonably late hurricane that blows through, and it leaves them washed up together on a deserted tropical island, alone. Will they be able to work through their issues and back to each other? Or will this deepen the rift between them further?

After the Taumoeba leak, after I decided to die after all and turned my ship around to save Rocky, after Rocky's frantic calculations about food supplies, Taumoeba multiplication rates, and human caloric intake needs, after we realized that with some rationing and luck I would make it, but that we were headed toward the unknown territory of trying to rapid-prototype me a life support system and synthetic food supply on an inhospitable planet: after all of that, after everything, I shouldn't have been surprised that it only took a few months on board the Hail Mary for things to get weird.
