Summary
Sirius had stumbled upon Lyall Lupin's funeral by accident and, in a fit spontaneity (brought on by a bout of boredom), he had decided to join. Right now, he is standing in the churchyard - only him and one other person: a tall twenty-something with a chevron moustache, brilliantly windswept brown hair and lovely hazel eyes.
In which Sirius decides to crash a funeral only to find himself chatting up the deceased's son.

It has been a long and rather tedious day for Remus Lupin and all he wants to do when he gets home is collapse onto the sofa and do nothing for at least fifteen minutes. When he gets home, however, he finds something else waiting for him: Sirius Black, his other half, standing by the staircase with an excited grin on his face. Remus knows that this can only spell trouble for him.
In which Remus deals with some past trauma with the help of his lovely fiancé.

How long had it been since he had last seen his friends, or had a decent meal, or even a good night's sleep?

Summary
Remus Lupin's job is easy for the most part. Sure, some people don't want to be found and put up a fight or try to run, but he is good at what he does, so he always brings his target back. When he is hired to retrieve Sirius Black, however, he finds it to be more of a challenge than anticipated.
In which Sirius is an annoying git who can't stop talking, Remus is really bloody tired, and all's well that ends well.

Context: In this non-magical universe, Teddy Lupin was born through surrogacy. His biological mother is Nymphadora Tonks but he was raised by Remus Lupin and Sirius Black-Lupin. The ages are all the same, meaning Remus and Sirius were in their late thirties when their son was born.

Summary
Nicky offers him a smile— small, but more genuine than anything Joe’s seen directed towards himself in a long time. “We’re family, yes, but we were friends first, before anything. We can have that again.”
Inside his chest, behind the delicate bones of his ribcage, Joe’s heart is being torn into pieces.
“You’re right,” Joe tries not to betray any emotion in his voice. He used to never be able to hide anything from Nicky; he wonders if he’s succeeding right now or if Nicky just doesn’t care anymore. “We can have that.”
Or: Joe and Nicky have been divorced for a year, when they find themselves having to spend a week together.

Ah! This is so beautiful. I like the series in general, but the amount of times I've read this one? Too many to count. The characterisation, the motives, the switch between POV. Just brilliant.

“They are quite the sight, aren’t they?” Adrienne says, sitting down next to him on the log by the fire, offering him the eau de vie once more.
“What are you talking about?” he says, feeling caught out. The bottle is half-empty already, and he does his part by taking a long drink so he doesn’t have to look at her for a while.
“Those two,” she says, pointing her chin at Nicolas and Joseph, who are huddled together with their backs against the wide trunk of an ancient olive tree. “You were staring.”

Man, there are some serious themes in this but I think it is all handled very well. The writing is great, the pacing is great, and the relationships are all written so familiarly. Very good.

Summary
Joe al-Kaysani, professor of art history, has a very clear idea of what he's looking for in a partner: a fellow academic with his shit together who can provide deep intellectual conversations on demand.
Nicolò di Genova, surly food services chef who doesn't even warn people about pork or have a bed frame, does not hit the brief.
Still, there's something magnetic about him, and Joe figures there's no harm in having a little fun while he waits for Prince Charming to arrive.

Summary
They don’t talk about it. It was too weird, they agreed. They didn’t mean it, and it shouldn’t have happened, but that doesn’t mean that one night wasn’t incredible for Nicky.
Nicky truly hadn’t thought about Joe that way before. Nicky wasn’t fighting an attraction to Joe while fighting him in their theology class. He didn’t add two and two until they had already made four. After that, it felt wrong thinking about his best friend after they already promised they wouldn’t ruin their friendship. What if something had happened, though? What if something happened, and it wasn’t that different from what was already happening now?
(Written for a prompt on the kink meme: Nicky and Joe are close friends in university who hook up one night after a few drinks, but decide that they don’t want to risk their friendship. Years later, after a series of unsatisfying relationships with other people, they’re both regretting not giving it a go but each of them is nervous to be the one to bring it up.)
