Summary
A peacock, Veritas read once, will present its train to attract a mate or to fend off an attacker. But Aventurine, Veritas deducts, has another user for it: as a mask of sorts, one so outrageously extravagant that with it he commands the attention of everyone in any room.
Love him or hate him, you can’t look away. One shouldn't judge a bird based solely on its feathers, but this one seems to be counting on it.
But as easily as Aventurine spreads his tail, his wings remain hidden. Even years into their professional relationship, Veritas has never seen him fly.

Summary
Something is very wrong in Hallownest.
The Hollow Knight wakes up outside the Temple of the Black Egg. Hornet feels a shift in the kingdom from all the way in Greenpath. Together, the two of them discover the sacrifices each has made—and the grief neither one of them was allowed to feel.

Hollow survives the Hollow Knight ending, though severely wounded and close to death. Against her better judgement, Hornet takes them under her care. Along the way, Hollow begins to acknowledge their emotions, and Hornet slowly discovers she's been lied to about the true nature of Vessels.

It wasn’t like it was a habit. He’d only done it five or six times. A handful of horizontal lines on either thigh, textured enough to run his fingers over. When he pressed in, the pink skin turned white. When he dragged his nails over them, they tingled, tugging at scar tissue beneath the skin. He made sure to go deep when he did it. He didn’t want it to be worth nothing. It didn’t mean anything if it didn’t hurt.
