Summary
In moving to the new kingdom, Espresso was no longer a professor. Gone were his days of peacefully teaching at the academy. No, now he had to be going off on expeditions all the time, giving Madeleine heart attacks and getting himself injured. It had gotten to the point where he dreaded any quests he himself wouldn't be on. Protecting Espresso had become more important to him than the outcomes of the missions- more important than life itself.

Espresso is a highly respected alchemist and mage of coffee magic, endlessly plagued with paperwork-induced burnout and nightmare-stricken insomnia. Madeleine is a revered and adored knight of the gods, often versed with light magic and an ego bigger than his brain.
Espresso is trying his best not to hate his guts.
Paired on an expedition to slay a beast and rekindle the once burning flames of humankind, the two have no choice but to endure and grasp a tolerance for each other… and perhaps, if they can learn to communicate, they can learn to love again, too.

The world ended a while ago when Earthbread was engulfed in darkness, but it only really ended for fire spirit when he locked eyes with Night Raven instead of Wind Archer, along with an arrow struck through his ribs.
And like that, died Fire Spirit, leaving behind Lord of Ash to deal with the remains of his life and the love that never died, The one and only thing the arrow spared.
