Carefully, he forces open one eye after the other, and slowly, his surroundings swim into focus. What he sees (and in a feat of astounding mental brilliance connects to the feeling of not-quite-rightness that woke him up in the first place) is Daniel, wrapped around him like a clingy octopus.

Summary
I wanted there to be Snow Cake fanfic. I also wanted Vivienne to not die, and Alex to not drive off into an uncertain future. This is my attempt to keep together what belongs together. Initially, this was supposed to be a chaptered fic, but because of the quite varying length of the snapshots, I decided to make them a multi-fic series instead.
This is also my ongoing tribute to the late Alan Rickman, whose work meant, and still means, a lot to me. Snow Cake is my favourite film of all times, and in my opinion one of Alan's most beautiful works. Here's to a great man, whose impact on my life I hope to honour in my writing.

Roy sighs. “Because an estate agent told me I should.”
“D’you like it?”
“I hate it,” Roy says heavily, and it’s surprisingly freeing to admit out loud. He sits back in his seat, feeling like an elephant has stepped off his chest.
“So sell it. Buy something you like. Life’s too short, right?” Jamie says, like it’s so easy.
It actually…probably is that easy. In the grand scheme of things. He just needs to ring an estate agent, put his house on the market, and buy a new one. People do it literally every day. Jamie Tartt figured it out, so it can’t be impossible. Fuck.

Maureen had gotten one of her grandkids to design it. It’s cute, a little on the nose, but cute, although Roy sounds like he does not share the sentiment. "Do I look like a fucking hen?" He turns the invitation around unimpressed. Alice thinks yes - Donna pencilled in the angry eyebrows on that particular chicken for a reason.

See, Colin was just going to close his eyes and go back to sleep. He didn’t care enough about Roy’s middle of the night phone call to stay awake and listen to it. But then he said baby, and he sounded all concerned and shit.
Colin has been playing with Roy for two years and he’s never heard him mention anything about being in a relationship. Nothing in the tabloids over the past several years have indicated anything towards an actual relationship. Who is he talking to?
Or Colin wakes up in the middle of the night while sharing a hotel room with Roy during an away match and accidentally finds out some very personal information about Roy.
