They sit curled up on his bed, or on the sandy dunes on hot summer days, and he talks about nothing in particular, and JJ simply nods and gives him more to smoke til the despair of being alien washes out. JJ touches him, too– a friendly bro shoulder bump barely grazing skin and long arms wrapped around his waist in the middle of the most silent nights.
How any of it came to fruition was as much of a mystery as the life he's leading.
