Caitlyn twisted her fingers in her lap. “Classical ballet."
“Whew! Not many ballerinas down here.” Babette gave Caitlyn a knowing look. “You’re from upstairs.”
Caitlyn nodded, feeling found out.
“And why do you want this job? You know what we do here, right honey?”
“Yes.” Caitlyn swallowed against her squeaking voice. “I have some idea of that, yes.”
Dancing. Stripping. Sex work. She’d gathered from the collection of stages, poles, and back rooms that this venue was more than your average nightclub.
“There’s something…missing from my dancing right now,” Caitlyn went on. “Vi is helping me find it. She suggested I start here.”
As if on cue, Vi returned to the office with two flimsy strips of fabric dangling from her index finger, the sight of which made Caitlyn’s face blanch. Did they expect her to wear that?
“Well let’s see how you look all dressed up and go from there.”
Unable to meet Vi’s gaze, Caitlyn took the silky fabric from her roommate’s finger and slinked behind the partition.

nyc-based college au where annabeth and piper have a call her daddy-esque podcast for some reason (but it’s, like, less problematic than chd). friends with benefits -- roommates with benefits? -- unpacking and overcoming trauma, piper being a chaotic bi, hazel being perfect and adorable, witty and hilarious banter, every one of the guys being a different flavor of himbo in peak new girl fashion… you get it. lots of cute stuff, mild angst, peak College Content that i wrote during covid because i was sad about not getting to do College Stuff, some smut but it’s decently tame and occasionally situationally comedic (with CWs of course) (for both sex stuff and bad humor) (i don’t really like writing super explicit sex so i’m sorry)
