“What are you talking about?” Grace's fingers played quick chords as he spoke. He didn’t even look as he did it, but it did not make them any less purposeful.
“Discussing possible reasons why Tau Ceti is not infected while other stars are,” Eva replied deftly. “I would invite you to join, but we were just finishing—”
“Oh, that’s easy.” His hand twisted a knob, and the notes came out sharper. “It is infected—Petrova Line and everything.”
In Grace's opinion, dreaming about time traveling is no excuse for getting out of practice with his Eridian. To the rest of the Petrova Taskforce, it seems a bit odd that their resident Astrophage expert has suddenly taken to carrying a keyboard around and playing it whenever he speaks. Eva Stratt resolves to figure out what is going on.

My throat tightens. "Does that mean there's something wrong? Are you sick?"
Rocky makes a gesture I usually interpret as "not exactly". "Not sick," he says. "But doctors still worry. When Eridian start to make fewer eggs, this usually means laying period of life is over soon. Rocky very young for this. Rocky supposed to be in ideal time of life for laying. Rocky younger than Adrian, even." He shifts on three of his feet. Already, my mind is racing ahead, wondering -- "Doctors told Rocky to ask Grace, is this radiation side effect, question?"

Originally a series of snippets that popped into my head while playing livtempleton's excellent Kaidan 2 mod, this will most likely be short stories of traveling skyrim with companions rather than a full retelling of the main story. Written in a mixture of letters, diary entries, and regular ol' third person prose.

There are only two little issues to ensuring my livelihood.
Vitamins and food. Fine, not so little. Big big big issues. Vitamins are going to be a major struggle. Humans are built to get most of their vitamins from food, of which I’ve already run out, aside from a few half-rations saved for really hard days. I’ve already separated a large sample of coma slurry to give over when we get to Erid. Hopefully, having samples of all my vitamins will help them figure out what to synthesize rather than just going from scratch.
Food is going to be even trickier.
But I have a plan. A foolhardy one, likely, but a plan nonetheless. I am going to start a farm. Yeah, that’s right. Have I literally ever lived in a house with its own yard my entire life? No. Have I ever grown anything bigger than the lima beans in wet paper towels as a class experiment? No! Do I have any of the things I need to even start a farm, most importantly, the seeds? No!
Well, maybe. Okay, here’s the rundown.
or Grace has lofty dreams to start a farm on Erid. We'll see how it goes.

As a result, Ryland begins taking on... different traits. Traits that make it possible for him and Rocky (and eventually, Adrian) to get closer than any of them ever thought they would be while the three of them start a life together on Erid.
