Jack scoffs again. “Obviously.”
Jones gives him a somewhat reprimanding look, as if to say no, it isn’t. Jack winces. “I’m not—” His throat kind of catches. “I’m not an animal. I don’t bite.”
“That’s not what they told me.”
Shit. The thing is, they’re right. He did bite his first warden. More specifically, he tore the guy’s throat out with his teeth.
Jack announces, perhaps idiotically, “I won’t bite you.”
