Summary
There are cogs and dials and symbols Olethra has never seen before; books and trinkets and hand-drawn maps, notes and wrappers and a chipped, stained coffee mug. This is Comfrey, through and through, and Olethra wants to pore over every inch of it. Instead, she gets caught up in one of Monty’s books that she’s yet to read – A Strange Foe in Oh No Plateau – and only realises how dark it’s gotten when Artemesia calls her in for supper.
A few mouthfuls in, Olethra asks “is grandma not eating with us?”
Hutch glances toward the window, and Artemesia squeezes Olethra’s hand. “She had to head out, sweetheart. She said she’ll see you real soon”

A lukewarm summer breeze sighs through the open window overlooking the lake. Paddle boats dot the waters, wandering this way and that, and the hillside sits littered with picnic blankets and onlookers. It’s the last day of term, and nearly everyone at Revington is out enjoying the sunset.
Which means Maxwell and Theophilius have about an hour before the prefects usher everyone back for curfew.
