He wasn't able to find any physical similarity... He assumed he referred to his constant presence in the house or the way he took care of the chores, which horrified him.
“I hate being alone.” He felt a gentle breeze heavy with alcohol hit his neck; the grip gave way just a little.
“You have your daughter.”
“It's not the same.”
“And you're drunk,” he added in a low voice. “Tomorrow you won't remember anything.”
“I hope so.”

He still does not move for the air conditioner, nor does he ask Dojima if he can. He has forgotten why they’d stepped into the car or where they were even headed. There’d been no call to action. No freak accident just off the main road. No cats stuck in trees. No grandmothers lost in the woods. No murder. No murder. No murder. The thrill wasn’t there when there was no anticipation. This is when horror movies get boring. When there’s no guts being spilled on screen, or no beautiful women taking up the mantle.
Adachi looks at Dojima again.
Rise Kujikawa is taking her sweet time, he thinks.
Adachi and Dojima go on a car ride.

The man set the beer aside and nervously scratched his unkempt beard. He had no excuses and was ashamed to admit it: doing so would be to acknowledge that little Nanako was suffering because of his own selfishness, and that he was a terrible father.
"I’m a coward, that’s why," he managed to say. "But isn't nostalgia scary?"
"I don’t think I have any reason to feel nostalgia, Dojima-san."

However, rehabilitation isn't out of his grasp. Not yet, at least.
A single meeting with Mitsuru Kirijo redirects his future. Call it a life sentence of public service... If public service included nearly risking your life every damn week to the next world-threatening shadow.
It's a lot to get used to, after all this time, but it sure beats counting down the days to a worthless execution.

No one bat an eye when Robert came to work with bags under his eyes and yawning, holding a cup of coffee in one hand and Beef in the other. He just got scolded by Chase that he should take better care of himself and actually sleep during the night and not lay on the floor staring at the ceiling for six hours, but it was nothing new. Z-Team was a bit pissy, he guessed that Visi told them all about him going out from drinks with that asshole and they felt betrayed. Robert didn't blame them. He actually would endure whatever comeback they thought of, even spiked up coffee or another round of pop out porn on his computer, but there was nothing like that. They were just a bit more quiet, with shorter temper than usual and calling him asshole and flat ass bitch a bit more often. Nothing that Robert couldn't handle.
OR
Previous dispatcher of the Z-Team was a disgusting asshole.
Robert just wanna talk to him. Just talk, of course.

Robert isn't coping well after the crash and everything that came before it. Toxic is a bad solution but it's the only one he has—until he starts his new job at SDN. Even then, Robert doesn't know how to break his habit of getting on his knees for Shroud's right-hand man. It would be lot easier to just move on with his life if Toxic would only stop kissing him like any of this meant something.
