Finally, the girl processed the other person standing over her, a red cardinal (was it… made out of wood?) perched on his shoulder and a golden staff with red energy glowing on the end in his hand. He glared down at her with magenta eyes. The rest of his face was covered by a pale red bandana.
“Ah. So that explains it,” he muttered, the glow disappearing from the end of his staff. “Of course the only person incompetent enough to fall into a nixolotl’s lair is a human.”

Summary
Patty decided based on what little she’d seen of them that she trusted them. There were worse ways to treat your business partners, and Patty had the misfortune of being witness to those types. Nero seemed to be patient and kind enough. And Nico was drop dead gorgeous and smart as hell to boot.
She could use that. In a place like Devil May Cry, where no one really took care of themselves, Nero and Nico seemed like they would be on her side.
Plus, they were around her age. The importance of that literally could not be understated.
“You have to understand,” Patty said, crossing her arms and shifting her weight to one foot, “that first of all, Dante cares a lot about you, ok? Even if he doesn’t tell you about anything.”
“Sure,” Nero said, but his ears were visibly turning red in front of her.
“And secondly,” Patty continued, “I can really only tell you what I know, and what I know isn’t everything. Just what I’ve seen and the couple things I’ve been told, and what I’ve found out on my own.”

Summary
Patty Lowell was ready for war.
She’d arrived with a bucket, a paint bucket, a full retinue of sponges, a mop, three different types of brooms, a bandolier of cleaning solutions, and a vacuum slung over her shoulder like a flamethrower.
“Nice try, Dante,” she said. “I’m here and I’m ready -- and you’d better have an explanation for why you didn’t come to my birthday party!”
The Dante she finds is...a little different.

Summary
Dante doesn’t show up to Patty’s High School graduation. That’s when she finds out Dante has been stuck in Hell. Dragging Nero along with her, she creates a plan to bring back Dante (and Vergil by association) to give him a good scolding for missing her graduation (and her birthday).

…
No, he hadn't been asleep. It hadn't been that. Something else. Something important.
Sparda wakes up from his unwilling slumber and comes back to a risen Temen-ni-gru, compromised seal, and his children in the midst of things.
He doesn't know the full situation. But he'll be damned if he doesn't do anything about it.
