Really, really lovely. Especially this: Yuuri once said, cocooned in the darkness of their bedroom and voices dulled by their blanketed cave, with his voice resilient and always brave in the dark, that as long as Victor was meeting him, Yuuri would step towards him. It’s possibly the most romantic thing Victor has ever heard.

Resolutely ignoring Viktor while slowly hobbling away from him; turning his back on him, was one of the hardest things Yuuri had ever done. But the rink wall was solid, and it held him when his legs could not. He was shaking so badly from the tips of his fingers to his bruised, battered knees that Yuri wordlessly handed him a tissue in the half-darkness when he tried to wipe his fresh tears away. Viktor’s gaze felt like a scar on his back. Just for a brief second, he’d gotten a whiff of that stupidly expensive Chanel perfume mingled with a faded aftershave that was unfamiliar to him. His heart expanded to let in the scent. It hungered, it yearned for more, but as much as he wanted to tear his chest open to fling it at Viktor’s feet together with the last shreds of his dignity, there was no use. Was there?

This made me ACHE but in such a good way. Poor Viktor 😭 The wedding depiction is beautifully done and the ending is so satisfying
One of my favorite parts:
Viktor,” he says. “Vitya. Trust me.”
And Viktor does. He trusts Yuuri with his life. It’s why he’s here, at this small town rink in this small piece of nowhere in Japan. It’s why he has friends and a new family and a two rings on his finger. It’s why every moment on the ice he’s had since they met felt more like flying than ever before. It’s why he sits at this moonlight rink, the scent of cherry blossoms in his nose and dog hair on his fancy trousers.
If he hadn’t been putting all his trust in Yuuri Katsuki for the last two and a half years of his life, he would have fifty gold medals and an empty, echoing apartment. He would have endless ambition and nowhere left to go. He would not have a home.

One of the best takes I’ve seen on what might have occurred if they’d met much earlier; with the language barrier the number of misunderstandings and assumptions felt so realistic. As always, my heart especially ached for Viktor so the resolution felt especially sweet with him being reassured that Yuuri does indeed love him just as much as Viktor loves him

Goddamn this wrecked me, I apparently love torturing myself via Viktor’s insecurity and depression 😭
Especially striking:
“Yuuri,” he says, as neutrally as he can manage (he’s sure it comes out quite plaintively). “What is it you want from me?”
Yuuri’s eyes meet his knowingly — far more knowledgable than dream Victor ever could have allowed. “I just want you to be you.”
Victor huffs a laugh. “An echo.”
Yuuri raises his brow.
“You said that once,” Victor murmurs, but what he means is, you meant that once — before you knew the broken me.

Moving and really well-written. Perfectly captures the uncertainty that would follow them after Barcelona. Loved Viktor’s POV in particular especially:
He shouldn’t hold it against him. Yuuri can’t help it, with his decade-long span of continuous self-deprecation. He’s delicate, his heart is delicate, his feelings are delicate. It’s always about Yuuri’s feelings, Yuuri’s feelings, Yuuri’s feelings…
What about Victor’s own feelings?
The mug shatters against the tiled floor. He bends over to pick up the pieces; he can’t let Yuuri see…
Yuuri can’t help it.
Well, that ugly part of him hisses, neither can I.

Incredibly tender and romantic, and for anyone who struggles with depression, this will feel like a warm hug 😭 One of my favorite passages:
On those days, Yuuri reminds him. Reshapes his words to the varied melodies of his love, playing upon their strings in cupid's notes, and he reminds Victor of who he is when the superficiality of his gold has melted into the horizon and the ice has been thawed by its rays.

Incredible! Captures Viktor’s fear of vulnerability so well. And is super sweet too, especially the ending:
This here—this, right here—was Yuuri’s Victor, excited but at ease, talking Yuuri’s ear off with eyes glimmering like a child’s on Christmas morning, expressions comically sliding between extremes every few moments as he told his stories. This was Yuuri’s Victor, open and honest and a wonderfully vulnerable, sharing his thoughts and feelings and stupidly expensive hotel bed sheets with him. This was Yuuri’s Victor, so close—so close—to him that Yuuri himself hardly knew where he ended and Victor began.

So good, especially the conversation after dinner; it feels so in character. Plus it’s a rarity to see Viktor bottoming for his/Yuuri’s first time being intimate but it aligns with my headcanons and is so well written.
This part was brain meltingly hot:
“Yu —” Victor gasps, but his voice chokes to a halt as Yuri withdraws, and twists, and throws him down, his spine arching on the mussed sheets. Their hands meet again, this time with Yuri’s weight pinning him. Their eyes meet, and Yuri’s gaze glistens again, with that dowsing rod gleam, searching, and then he shifts around, uses his body to shift Victor’s legs around him.

Viktor’s hand brushed against Yuuri’s as they walked. When Yuuri looked up, Viktor was gazing at him with a strange, soft sort of light in his eyes. “Sorry,” he said quietly, and it took Yuuri a moment to realize Viktor was apologizing for touching him.
Yuuri steeled himself for any potential embarrassment, and then reached out and quickly took Viktor’s hand. “I don’t mind.”
“Alright,” Viktor said, his eyes wide, the tips of his ears pink. He didn’t hesitate before lacing their fingers. “Nor do I.”
Yuuri smiled privately, his heart thumping against his ribs, and Viktor smiled back.

And then-the flip-and then, the kiss, and then Yuuri made it to the Grand Prix final by the skin of his teeth, and Viktor had so much to say about his skating that he couldn’t get out for a full day afterwards because Yuuri had let him go, had turned to Viktor with nothing but conviction in his eyes and hobbled his chances in the free skate, all for the sake of Viktor’s beloved pet.
If he didn’t know before, he knew then. Yuuri cared about him. He didn’t care about Viktor Nikiforov. He cared about Viktor.
The hard part, then, was believing it.
