    The announcement of the New Avengers surprised us all, but the real buzz is about the mysterious man on stage-who could he be?

    Dressed in casual clothes and seemingly unharmed from the attack on the city, the mystery man seemed to be in high spirits, clapping along and cheering as the New Avengers were presented to the world.

    "I'm not dating anyone!" Bob exclaimed, face as red as it could be.

    "Oh, really? I thought maybe I'd forgotten our illustrious relationship, alongside me forgetting that I'm the first gay Captain America, and that any past crimes were because I was secretly dating Lemar while married to Olivia," John snarked, arms crossed and looking annoyed.

    "At least they created reasons for you to be dating Bob! My reason is simply that I'm a woman, so why wouldn't I be dating the man I'm friends with?" Yelena huffed, placing Cucumber the guinea pig down on the table to roam freely.

    "Don't forget the theory that the three of you are secretly a throuple," Ava teased, laughing gleefully as both Yelena and John shuddered in sync.

    "We recently ran a poll through various test groups. The stats for popularity include a lot of overlap; the majority of people chose at least two options each." Mel started.

    "Bob is at number one with 80%, Olivia Walker at 65%, Ava at 45%, Bucky at 16%, Joaquin Torres at 8%, and Yelena at 4%. Then there were various write-ins at different percentages with a variety of other heroes, including your former partner, Battlestar. He was a popular choice," Mel listed, showing the full stats, including write-ins, on the screen.

    "Is there anyone people don't ship John with?" Bob asked, biting back a laugh, unlike Ava and Yelena, who were laughing freely.

    "Currently? The trend online seems to be 'passing John Walker around like a blunt', apparently, every fandom has one of these, although it's usually a fictional character," Mel said.

    In the months since the Void's attack on New York the public calls for its capture or destruction, the Thunderbolts now New Avengers must fight to protect their friend from all those eyes.

    The Avengers have reformed under Captian America first order of busniess discover what secrets Bucky has been hiding from them.

    Finally two champions Ms Marvel and Hawkeye uncover an alien weapon smuggling ring that has even the cruel Mayor Fisk worried.
    All three teams are tested as an old enemy rises from the ashes to reclaim their broken throne.

    Will the heroes put aside there differnces first as friendships are tested or will they fall to unite as one under the coming storm.

    (Canon Divergence After Thunderbolts* Ignores Post Credits Scene. Ignores anything post TB. A somwhat direct squeal to the Marvels, Brave New World and Thunderbolts. My own take on the mcu)

    “No Bucky, you are safe, if she goes down she doesn’t have enough dirt on you to drag you down with her. The rest of us.” He waves at himself, Ava who frowns, Yelena who avoids his gaze and even Alexi who seems complative. “Are doomed.”

    ”Not inherently.” Yelena argues. “We have been doing good and it’s not like she still has records of our work for her. She destroyed them herself.”

    ”Yeah do you think the legal system cares?” John, impassioned, continues. “Up until Latvia, I had no faults in my record and that didn’t save me. You think the rest of us after everything would be spared. All it would take is Valentina spilling any little bit of information about us to save her skin and at best we’re in the Raft for the rest of our lives.”

    After everything that happened, John got to keep the shield and the title. It didn't take long for him to wish he hadn't, but he marched on anyway because he didn't know what else to do; until the secret he had been protecting since he was sixteen was exposed in the worst way possible.

    Bucky, meanwhile, decided to try his hand at politics; changing the system from the inside for once. He'd been running a pretty okay race until he had accidentally implied that perhaps he wasn't as forthcoming and trustworthy as the platform he'd been campaigning on suggested.

    Now, John needed an alpha to "combat his natural emotionalism as an omega" as well as someone strong enough to keep him in line if he wanted to keep his job and place in the military. Bucky needed an omega to "make him appeal to more traditional values" as well as someone sturdy enough to weather the political minefield if he wanted to win the election and actually be the change he wanted to see.

    Hold You With My Hands Tied by bleuvelvet

    Being Captain America had always been John's biggest dream, one that he had never expected to attain. When had it turned into such a nightmare? Why was he even trying so hard to keep it? Though, realistically, what else could he do? It was all he'd ever known; soldier was the only job John had ever had.

    Officially, John wasn't even supposed to have been there, still on probation while undergoing review of his actions. Unofficially, the people he'd saved in that truck had been grateful, with some whispering they'd support the return of the title of Captain America back to him, along with the shield.

    He hadn't done it for that, but John would be lying if he said a part of him he wasn't relieved that he'd once again been deemed worthy of the symbol. John had quickly realized what a mistake it was, but he hadn't seen a way out. He was an omega without his alpha, throwing back heat suppressants in a desperate attempt to maintain the status quo, meanwhile he had a wife and new baby on the way at home.

    John loved Daniel, and Olivia, but life without Lemar was like living in a world that had lost its color. He'd tried desperately to pull himself out of whatever funk he was in, but it was like a quagmire, continuously pulling him down, little by little, every day. When Olivia had finally shown him the divorce papers, something like relief had come over John; finally, he would be alone, no longer dragging others down with him in his misery.

    "I don't know," she admitted softly. "I didn't know you then. But I don't think you're the same man that broke my husband's - ex-husband's - arm over a piece of equipment."

    "He told you?" Bucky asked in surprise. John had said he hadn't told anyone about what happened that day in the warehouse.

    "No, but you just confirmed it for me." At his confused frown, she smirked, and Bucky saw why John must have fallen in love with her. "When you're the wife of a four-time combat tour veteran who also did several special ops missions, you learn how to read in between the lines."

    Bucky stared at her. "He did four combat tours?"

    Olivia chuckled, but it wasn't a particularly amused sound. "Two things John has always been good at: getting himself into fights, and finishing them."

    "If I thought they'd let him keep it, I would," said John with a shake of his head. "But they'd just take it right back and force it into my hands again." John thought about leaving it there, letting her think his motives were altruistic, but he owed it to her - he owed it to Sam - to be honest. "And without the shield, I have nothing," he made himself finish. "The serum and that shield are the only reason I'm allowed to stay in the army."

    Understanding softened her features. It wasn't a forgiveness, she didn't owe him that and he didn't expect it, but it was something other than frustration and anger.

    John rolled his eyes. "Spare me the speech, Barnes. You don't give a shit what happens to me." A nasty thought occurred to him. "In fact, wouldn't it be good for you?"

    "What?" Bucky recoiled slightly in shock.

    "Yeah," John continued, finally regaining his footing. "You could be the poor congressman who's sub-par omega cheated on him. Everyone would understand if you filed for divorce, and then you could find a more acceptable omega for yourself, and the government wouldn't have any reason to keep me on board anymore." John could tell he was breathing faster, but he couldn't seem to get himself to calm down. "Then you could finally give it to Sam like you've always wanted. Like Steve always wanted. Like everyone wants," he ended, his voice cracking in the middle of the last sentence.

    Somehow, despite being a beta, Olivia had figured them out and kept their secret, and the three of them had been inseparable since high school. They'd all loved each other in their own ways, and John had been in love with Olivia - and she with him - since their senior year. Lemar had no problems with them marrying, and Olivia hadn't minded the bond between him and his best friend, knowing it for what it was and understanding the necessity of it.

    No one had ever noticed, or if they had, they'd never brought it up to any of the three of them, so they'd lived in this tiny little triumvirate of balance, harmony, and love.
