Summary
The first time he had found the spectral Yamato in his hand, it had been a complete surprise.
Summoning the copy of the Yamato, let alone using it, didn't come easy to Nero. His father's teaching didn't help either, especially not when half of the lessons ended in awkward silence and the other half ended…like this.

“Stupid.” Nero muttered to himself, banging a fist against the shower wall.
What did he think was going to happen? That Vergil would look up and say “Welcome back son. How was the job? How are you? Do you want to talk about how you have been, or anything about yourself?” Utterly ridiculous.
‘Why would he say anything to me? He wants nothing to do with me.’When Nero is seriously injured after a demon hunting job, it is up to Dante and Vergil to work together to save him. Dante has to help find a cure for his nephew, and deal with his emotionally constipated brother. Vergil, while trying to cure Nero, does his best to avoid talking about his feelings. Nero tries to figure out his place in his messed up family while dying.

“Nero snap out of it! You're not at Fortuna anymore! You don't need to bend to their expectations” he yelled, or rather, pleaded. The man pulled back Nero so that his back wasn't bent over anymore, and now both of them were sitting up on their knees. The boy still fought against his restraints, trying desperately to claw again at his deepest shame. He turned his eyes to meet the sun's gaze so abruptly that Dante was worried he'd get whiplash and started his prayer once more.
