Hotch shook his head and cut across Spencer’s rambling.

It’s the worst possible thing, especially here and now, walking in the ghost of Mikey’s footsteps, seeing him everywhere, feeling him everywhere. The prodigal baby brother, home at last, playing the role but in no way filling it. Carmy’s presence here only makes Mikey’s absence clearer. He knows it; everybody knows it.
It’s all Carmy should be thinking about. It’s all any sane person would be thinking about. Instead, he watches a bead of sweat snake down the back of Richie’s neck as he pulls up disintegrating tile in the bathroom of the restaurant.

Ok, so, maybe he’s thought about it. It’s pretty hard not to think about it when your best friend is always in your personal space, drying himself with your towel, eating your leftovers, making you smell their clothes to determine whether they should go in the wash or not - as if an eighteen year old breathing your sneakers 24/7 and sharing boarding school locker rooms could tell the difference.
Maybe he’s thought about what his best friend kisses would taste like, but isn’t it normal? He’s seen a good deal of Patrick’s heavy petting on his summer holidays at the Zweigs. He’s seen him pressing girls against walls, getting on top of them in the garden of his ridiculously big estate - mind you, he stuck around only if a fair amount of clothing denied all voyeuristic accusations.
He just never thought he’d actually find out.
