Freo kept his keycard in the left outer pocket of whatever bag he was carrying. This was the kind of thing you learned when you paid attention, and Kaelix paid very close attention. He'd watched him use it — the practiced reach, no fumbling, always the same pocket — and had spent some time considering the logistics before arriving at what he felt was the most elegant available option.
He was not going to steal it. That would be noticed immediately. He was going to borrow it for approximately forty minutes on a morning when Freo was using the building's gym, which was on the third floor and which he visited on Tuesdays and Thursdays between seven and eight, which Kaelix knew because he had been paying attention.
