Summary
At the beginning of the Hogwarts 1977-1978 school year, James Potter finds a cat and Regulus Black finds a Horcrux.
These events are not unrelated.
What follows is a deal to their mutual benefit: James helps Regulus hone the finer details of advanced transfiguration, and in return, Regulus teaches James what he knows of occlumency and legilimency. James is pleasantly surprised by how much he enjoys their lessons, certainly more than he thought he would considering what (admittedly little) he knows of Sirius’s younger brother. Regulus, for his part, thought he was smart enough to know that anyone with as many secrets as him has no business teaching fucking mind reading to another person. Especially when that person is James Potter.
There is affection—the kind that only comes from meeting someone you never expected to understand you. And there is war—a looming thunderhead that neither of them wants to see consume the other.
The rest is a matter of secrets, family, and letting go.

Summary
A young woman sitting in their kitchenette, a portfolio folder held protectively on her lap. She had dark hair, neatly styled in a French twist, and a visitor’s badge clipped to her blouse. Her heels had red soles, a bit worn but in good condition. When her gaze lifted, they were a striking, haunting, bright blue.
Alex cleared his throat and approached her with squared shoulders. “Hi. Agent Claremont-Diaz. Are you looking for someone, ma’am?”
The instinctual, reflexive ma’am earned him a crooked sort of smile. “I believe I’m looking for you, actually,” she replied in a smooth English accent; educated and precise. She rose from the plastic chair. She stuck out a hand. “Beatrice Mountchristien. I represent the Frick Gallery.”

Summary
Regulus Black’s life is not exciting; if anything, it’s mundane, no break from the routine he found himself in after leaving his childhood home, following in his big brother’s footsteps. It might have taken him four more years than Sirius to gather himself and leave their parents behind, but now, at twenty-three, Regulus is the happiest he’s ever been. Well, he’s as happy as he can be, considering his life is bleak and his only form of entertainment comes from his and Sirius’ bi-weekly dinners.
He never would have expected said monotony to be broken by Sirius’ best friend, yet here he is.
