There's a very good chance that they could be night creatures and as a monster hunter (in training) it's Mare's job to make sure that any and all night creatures who live within the Stilts don't pose a threat to anyone. Of course there's only one way to figure that out. It has nothing to do with the fact that one of the potential vampire's has a nice face. It doesn't.
All Cal wants to do is live in one place for longer than two years. That's a little difficult when you've got a huntress investigating you and your family while your brother and his boyfriend do nothing but create messes for you to clean up.
And Maven and Thomas? They're just here for the fun and to endure watching two pining fools dancing around each other.
