Summary
Years pass. People grow. The world moves on without you. The Angel grew content with that for a while. It still hurt whenever they thought of the world that had long banished them, but something new pulled them out of the depths. Now, the Angel walks amongst friends who swear that they will not be banished. Kris, Susie, and Ralsei mean everything to them. Maybe this time, their banishment doesn't have to be as set in stone as they thought.
The Roaring comes. The light falters. Everyone falls.
A desperate connection is established in an attempt to save what remains of the Angel. If they fall, all hope will be lost. The world that banished the Angel long ago has forgotten them, but they have not forgotten it. This connection will have to be enough. “Captain.” His soft voice would’ve been pleasant if not for the looming dread of his next words. “I’m sorry to bother you. We got a concerning tip at the start of the hour: a pile of dust outside the church. I don’t think I need to clarify more than that.”
“You don’t. Have you called anyone else?”
“Forensics, and now you.”
“So I wasn’t your first pick.” He scoffed at my joke. “Call Susie for me. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”
“Thank you, Kris. I knew I could count on you.” The relief in his voice eased the frustration of the situation. It was hard to be annoyed when someone believed in you, even if you were dead tired.
After a murder is reported outside the church of Hometown, Captain Kris and Detective Susie are on the case.

Hundreds of miles away, Wendy is in a similar boat. Amid dreary winter days and piled-on schoolwork, she can't help but miss the summer, and the person that made it so special.
Neither can wait to meet again, and both are resigned to the fact that it won't be happening anytime soon.
However, fate has other plans, and their reunion will come far sooner than either thinks. Some bad weather, a very bad book, and a lot of buried feelings will ensure that both Dipper and Wendy's winter ends up a lot more interesting (and dangerous) than they expect.
After all, who said Gravity Falls is only weird in the summertime?
