Grace returns to rescue Rocky, and conveniently did not sleep the entire way there. Grace collapses in the hall, which leads to the revelation that he never actually wanted to die in space in the first place.

Summary
“Simon?” Grace tries out the name, the syllables rolling of his tongue. To his surprise, Simon looks up. He looks scared and confused, regardless of how harsh his bark may come off or unnatural his eyes are. Grace longs to help him.
“Can you c’mere, please? So I can show you proof I’m not lying to you?” Grace asks with a new wave of patience. Simon looks away and doesn’t move, choosing to glare at the wall.
“I don’t bite,” Grace reassures.
“What if I do?” Simon warns, tone too soft to be threatening.
Grace sits down with a grunt, crisscrossed on the floor from where he stood with the laptop settled on his lap.
“Then that’s a risk I’ll just have to take.”

Ryland Grace has been living happily on Erid the past year, or so he believes. He loves his comforts and small wins of his everyday, but when he’s alone it feels as though something’s missing.
Maybe this hard around the edges and mysterious stranger, the only human he’s made contact with in years, will become a friend.
Maybe something more, as his foolish soft heart always holds onto hope.

Grace could easily say that his current life was about as peaceful as it could get.That's why Grace choked and almost suffocated on his tea, when Rocky came barreling in through the front door, the xenonite shell that kept him protected from the atmosphere clicking against the floor, as the alien filled the room with frantic chitter and song, stomping in place.
“Human! Human on Erid!”Grace raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”
“New human! Very injured, Eridians need help to save!”

The Eridians find a strange man on a moon close to Erid. As Grace tries to nurse him back to health, the man refuses to say a word.

Simon wouldn’t meet his eyes, but Grace was close enough to see his resolve breaking. He could see how desperately Simon wanted to give in. And he was suddenly, painfully aware of how close they were standing to one another.
“I don’t trust it,” Simon said. “My hunger–”
“I’m not trusting your hunger. I’m trusting you.”
Simon can't resist his hunger for blood any longer, and Grace is desperate to help... any way that he can.

Summary
The stranger pressed against the far wall, curling in on himself. His chest heaved. Bandages covered most of the left side of his face, partially obscuring one eye. A wolf in a foxtrap, teeth bared and ready to snap.
After living for a few years on Erid, Grace and Rocky decide to see what other life exists out in the universe. The last thing they expected to find was a human hurtling through the Sirius star system in a welded sub.
aka, Simon wakes up on a strange spaceship and has to face the fact that he survived the blood ocean.
