Summary
Stiles and Scott's jaunt through the woods looking for a dead body is interrupted by the appearance of a goose. A soulmate goose. A soulmate goose that insists on taking Stiles to meet a huge, monstrous werewolf who definitely killed that dead body he was looking for.
Somehow, Stiles and Peter manage to work things out from there.

Summary
Stiles hated being useless, but as a human in a pack of werewolves that's exactly what he was. He could probably have sucked it up if his pack members were able to protect themselves, but with none of them willing to get their hands dirty the threats kept piling up. Worse, he had started to think Deaton had a sinister agenda as well.
Then Stiles discovered what was left of the Nemeton, a guardian tree which could give him the power to protect everyone himself. In order to bond with it and bring it back to full strength he would need the help of an Alpha, one willing to do whatever it took to keep their pack safe no matter how unsavory or illegal. No one fit that role better than Peter. All Stiles had to do was help him become an Alpha again.
(Or: Peter and Stiles protect Beacon Hills by carving a bloody path through their enemies, and fall for each other in the process.)
