With an exaggerated roll of his eyes, Mumbo retorts, “With such a gorgeous man below me, I’d be a fool to rush. I told you I wanted to take my time, didn’t I?”
Grian shudders, a full-bodied thing that seems to run down his spine, and Mumbo can do nothing but smirk.
“You're lucky,” he states firmly, shifting until he is pushing the angel’s legs apart. “Tonight, I won’t be waiting a second longer. I am a greedy man, dove, and I am going to spoil myself with you.”

He smiles gently, sorrowfully, with too much earnestness in his eyes. Scar kneels down, blood and water lapping at his sides, and slowly guides your outstretched sword to his neck.
“Wait,” you choke out.
“You can kill me.”
“What — no,” you whisper. It feels like a scream.
“For —” his voice falters. “For everything you’ve done to me to keep me alive this long, you may slay me and take the enchanter.”
And — honestly, it didn’t matter if you’d just lost a life.
“No, I can’t —”
You don’t want to kill him.
“I can’t do it,” you plead.
But this was always the way it was going to end, wasn’t it?
“The ghosts want a fight,” you say.
One of you has to die anyway. Even if you both know who it will be.

From what the summary seems like, this isn't an emotional hurt / comfort fic. Just coffee, technical crime, and love confessions that get disregarded because they're both too stupid to realize they're being serious.

Summary
Of all the colors, Mumbo misses red the most.
Red was Grian’s favorite color. Some days, he’ll catch himself staring longingly at a rose or an apple, trying desperately to remember how it felt to see red.
Back when the incident was still fresh and new, Mumbo would dream in color. Now, though, he dreams mostly in shades of gray. Sometimes he wakes up with the memory of blues, purples, greens, pinks fading from his mind. He’ll stare up at his dark roof and try to retain as much of it as he can, but in the end it bleeds away - like it did that day - and he’s back to his world of black and white.
In actuality, it’s not the lack of color that really bothers Mumbo. Sure, not being able to see color can make it difficult for him to redstone since he uses wool for pathways, but that’s something he can overcome.
What really bothers Mumbo is what the lack of color means.
It’s been a few years since the incident, and most days are fine - but really nothing can prepare someone for losing their soulmate.

Grian takes a breath too, running his fingers along the grain of their perch, and says, “I need to protect us.”
It’s obvious, but the way that he says it- God, the way that he says it. It’s weak, a little quivery as it shivers its way from Grian’s dry, cracked lips. Even though it seems like nothing, like there’s barely any substance to such an irrefutable claim, it’s still, somehow, the most vulnerable that Grian had been in weeks.
And it makes Scar pause, because- what the hell does that mean? What does it mean when he says it like that? When he says it with shaking lips and shaking hands, rubbing his fingers a little tenderly against the wood beneath them?

“You haven’t been eating,” Grian says, firmly enough to startle him out of his hungry trance.
He sits himself down at one of the stools around the small table in the centre of the vault and stares at Mumbo consideringly, eyes running up and down the tall man’s form.
Mumbo can feel his ears twitch slightly as they attune to the pattern of Grian’s pulse, to the way that his blood rushes underneath his skin. He can barely hear him anymore, his eyes glued to the rosy colour in his cheeks and the blue of his veins.
Mumbo can’t help but think that he looks delicious.

Summary
When Mumbo first dreams, it’s a normal night on the Hermitcraft server.
It goes like this: he is standing next to a tower of boats overshadowed by a giant, upside-down ship, both of which hover over a hole that he is - for some reason - certain leads to the void. The world is being pulled apart around him - dirt and gravel and blackstone and copper, all dragged upwards by some force that Mumbo can’t see. It’s as though everything has suddenly become magnetic, drawn up into the sky by a giant lure disguised in the clouds.
Then, he sees the moon - big and imposing and terrifying and awful and gorgeous–
He wakes up only a moment later.

Summary
Dating a vampire was not exactly like Grian had expected. He honestly thought it would have been sexier - not that Mumbo wasn’t sexy, of course - but Grian had kind of assumed that their relationship would always be sparkling with heated gazes, tongues running along lips, and the tantalizing exhilaration of twin fangs pressed delicately against Grian’s neck.
Mumbo was much softer and awkward than all the dark and dirty vampiric romance novels Grian had read. Mumbo always had some sort of poem or song that reminded him of Grian, millions of recipes that he knew Grian would love, and a beautiful garden in which he picked special bouquets everyday for Grian. Dating a vampire was nothing like Grian could have imagined - it was much, much better.
Of course, there were times that dating a vampire was not like Grian had expected because of reasons he never could have predicted. But this wasn’t always bad, and Grian wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Or
Five times that dating a vampire isn't what Grian expects, and the one time it is.
