Summary
[Standalone story] One month after Marc’s breakdown in London, it’s not the Moon Knight’s original host that interrupts Steven Grant’s ordinary life. Instead, it’s Jake Lockley who wakes up in that cramped London apartment – and he’s not shy to immediately clue in Steven about their mental condition and the work they do for Khonshu. If Marc knew Steven would be left at the mercy of his murderous alter, he’d be turning in his sarcophagus – but the two polar opposite halves of him strike up an unexpected friendship with each other. By the time Marc comes to, he finds his alters have all ganged up on him and conspired with both Khonshu and Layla behind his back. Really, he leaves them alone for a few weeks and everything is turned upside down. It remains to be seen if this is a good or a bad thing.

Then one day while sorting through all of Marc’s multiple fake identities he uses to launder his illegally earned money, Steven stumbles over a series of monthly withdrawals going back years. Who is this Jake Lockley that is listed as an employee in one of Marc’s sham companies? And who is Julienne Sanchez, that he gives all his salary to? It was fine until you—” Marc pauses, closing his eyes and bringing a hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose. “You know, last time I checked, guns didn’t leave stab wounds.” Marc vaguely gestures to Jake, a pained expression on his face. “I mean, how’d you even get those, huh? You get them before or after you killed a bunch of innocents?”
Jake glares at the mirror now. “Innocents that would not have hesitated to kill you and your wife.”
Jake says it, low yet calm, fully expecting it to be the last thing he ever said to Marc Spector. He waits for the mirror to morph back into a stranger, to lose this oddly comforting tether to this person he’s made sure to avoid all his life. Prepares to continue hiding, erasing every imprint, leaving nothing more behind than what Marc could not achieve on his own.'

For Layla, that word could mean a host of things. He’s anticipating something like an ethically dubious would-you-rather question, or maybe another diatribe about stolen artifacts in museums. Her actual response comes out of left field like a runaway freight train.
“Can I hug you?”

“Absolutely not,” Steven interrupts. “Marc’s standards are higher than that.”
His head gets snapped back for that, a swift punch to his jaw sending hot jolts of pain down his face. He is definitely going to bruise. It’s still kind of worth it.

“Look, Steven,” he says, with both his hands to accentuate what he says. “I think we blipped because neither of us remember the blip, but there was only one person who could have reported me that didn’t blip, not counting Khonshu, and my name isn’t in any of the databases, so he didn’t, so either he cares a hell of a lot less than he says and shows, or… ‘dunno, we blanked it, or something.”
And now Steven’s getting nervous, because he didn’t consider checking any of the memorial lists before posing the question to Marc, but he trusts that, genuinely, neither of them know.
“Should we call your friend and ask?” Steven suggests. “Or see if Layla remembers something we don’t?”
“Haven’t filled him in on… anything about you,” Marc admits. “Haven’t had the opportunity.”
“Well, then just ask why we’re not on the memorial list,” Steven suggests. “If he thinks we’re crazy, then we know we didn’t blip, and we can go from there. If there’s an explanation, then great, that’s one thing figured out.”
[In which Jake lives in NYC for the duration of the blip, and Marc and Steven eventually get debriefed.]
