Thingol, shocked, drew in a sudden breath through tight-clenched teeth. “He is the very image of Finwë!”
“I warned you of that earlier,” said Galadriel quietly, her smile returning. “The resemblance never failed to madden Fëanor, by the way.”
Sympathy for mad, dead Fëanor was not what he expected to feel today, but he felt it nonetheless. A beloved memory from a life long before the sun now rode into his kingdom under plain daylight. His mind whirled. He could not reconcile it.

He pushes and jerks and rearranges and tries again, but the glow is gone from Tyelpe’s eyes, and he should have let Tyelpe pull him over the edge as he went, shouldn't have flinched away—because now the anger is returning and making him cruel, and as his hand twists in Tyelpe’s hair something in him greedily approves of the yelp of pain that flies past his lips.
Even now, seeing the echo of malice in Annatar’s eyes, Tyelpe does not flinch away. Instead, he urges Annatar on, even as his voice goes rough around the edges and his eyes wince with every movement—but it's almost as if the pain is happening to another person, a person whose suffering Tyelpe cares nothing about Just once, Annatar had wanted to lose himself in the illusion. But the person he is beneath his disguise has never been skilled at anything but causing pain, and it seems Annatar is no different.

“You’re not! He’s the useless one,” Nolofinwë said savagely. He knew it was a poor response - Fëanáro was an extraordinarily productive member of society, or so people were always telling them - but he was too upset to think of anything else.

On the way back from the Borscht Bowl Club, after taking a detour, Kristoph and Phoenix are mugged at knifepoint. While Kristoph is mentally calculating what the situation means and what course of action to take, Phoenix has already acted on the very same impulses that led him to be disbarred.
That is to say, he has put himself between Kristoph and the knife. And Kristoph, for the life of him, cannot figure out why.

A year later, when Fëanáro held a sword to his throat, and their eyes met, when in furious rage Fëanáro looked at him, Ñolofinwë looked back, searching his face for any measure of pity or mercy with the desperation of one who fears for his life. And the dream came into his mind vividly, Fëanáro's warm loving tones, the scent of him, so familiar, so vivid.
"I love thee," he whispered, desperate, in the exact tones he remembered, and was rewarded with devastation in Fëanáro's eyes, with the sudden clatter of the sword on the ground as it fell from Fëanáro's hand, with Fëanáro's sudden, hopeless, intake of breath. Fëanáro stared at him for a long breathless second as Ñolofinwë stared back, and then the crowd surged between them, pulling them apart.

Fingolfin came to him, after all. He followed him. Fingolfin followed Fëanor, and so he cannot deny his brother Fëanor, and all that this means.
A look at Fëanor and Fingolfin's relationship from that first confrontation in Aman to a reconciliation at Lake Mithrim in Middle-earth. An AU where Fëanor survives his encounter with Gothmog.
