The Fatui plan and execute an invasion of the City of Mondstadt at night, led by Dottore, Pantalone, Capitano, and Tartaglia. Diluc manages to warn Kaeya before they get to him, giving him time to flee the city so he may seek help from the neighboring countries.
However, they both know that Diluc isn't getting out of this unscathed.

The only thing keeping her from bolting is Peruere's presence and little Freminet; she remembers him, as she remembers every dead sibling, and she'd not thought he'd still be alive to this day.--
Freminet, overseeing a simple tracking mission, finds far more than he could've ever expected: a ghost from the Hearth's past, long presumed dead. Clervie’s return reopens old wounds and strains loyalties -- a dangerous thing, when tensions are high in the House, following a recent attempt at burning their home down.
