Surely Sherlock couldn't have just made John trot over from the other side of the city and just tell him to dress up as Sherlock, there must be some communication beforehand. With Sherlock lacking the morphine that he needs and John worried out of his mind, they huddle close in the quaintness of Leinster Gardens. Saying a lot and saying nothing at the same time. For the record, John thinks Sherlock is an idiot for asking John to leave him to confront his assailant alone while wounded. Detectives really do need their blogger it seems.

“Viktor?” Jayce whispered, blinking quickly, trying to adjust his vison to the darkness as the dust started clearing. “Viktor!”
"…’M here, Jayce.”
Somehow, the slurring of the words was just as terrifying as the situation itself. Viktor never sounded like that, always took pride in himself for choosing his words and how he said them carefully. Only a handful of times letting himself lax and be free with his speech…only when he was with Jayce.
"Where - ” Jayce struggled to say, pushing himself up on his forearms to look ahead and quickly realized he was wrong. No, it wasn’t the most terrifying thing to see the ceiling crumbling around Viktor, it wasn’t hearing his speech be slowed and weary.
It was this.
Or a failed experiment with the Hexcore causes an explosion. Jayce and Viktor are trapped and time is not on their side.

Summary
His current project has to be perfect.
While he’s not as picky as Viktor when it comes to prioritizing form over function, he does still prefer the most direct and structurally sound designs when crafting. Unfortunately, this particular piece is all about form. The curves of this plate of metal have been painstakingly coaxed into something familiar, but not quite right, so he keeps trying, heating and reheating the metal on repeat.
Suddenly, he takes the mask out of the forge, waits for it to cool, stares.
And the machine herald stares back at him.

Or, Jayce being very happy with his wonderful new post-canon life except for the part where the human brain deals poorly with trauma sometimes. Follow-up to previous work, won't mean much without reading it first.
