“Holy shit, Spider-Man… are you gonna be OK?” Peter stumbled forward a couple steps, dazed, then glanced up with one lense wider than the other in an expression resembling a raised eyebrow. He waved the bystander off weakly, trying to sound casual.
“Totally! I’m fine, I’ll be fine. Definitely had worse, n-nothing Spider-Man can’t handle.”
“There is literally a hole in you, man… you sure?” Peter quickly raised a hand to press it firmly against his torso, both blocking the injury from the cameras and stemming the blood flow, which he could now feel dripping down his hip and leg. Ugh, so gross.
“Oh yeah, no biggie.” The vigilante pitched breathlessly.

In every Alternate Universe, Tony Stark attended MIT and owned an MIT hoodie. Just the standard black one with the logo printed on the front and his name stitched on the inside by his neck (done delicately by the housekeeper the first— and last— Christmas he came home for). It was nothing special, just a heap of fabric that Tony fell in love with and refused to part from no matter how old he got. Even decades after he graduated, the hoodie stayed in his possession like a keepsake— which he would never admit to because Tony Stark was not a sentimental man.

When he woke up, it was in his bed at the Stark cabin. The room was dimly lit, a stripe of faint yellow light shining through the slit under his door and casting a few soft shadows over the space. Peter stared at the strip of light dumbly, wondering what conversation was waiting for him behind the door. He thought that he'd be perfectly fine not finding out; just staying in his room, ignoring that dreadful light and disappearing into soft shadows and empty ceilings, never having to worry about disappointed fathers and homey cabins again. But he didn't. He didn't manage to slip away into another world free of worries, and he found his mind drifting to the future waiting for him behind that door.
