Standing up, Miranda let out a throaty laugh. “I’ve always been a fan of silk and lace,” she said, pinching the collar of her open robe. Miranda smiled, watching Andrea’s eyes grow darker, and slowly dragged her fingers along the stitched edge of the cool fabric. She guided Andrea’s blazing gaze with her hand, sliding it all the way down to the hanging belt, and then moved upward, pressing the thin layers of the clothing beneath to lift the hem of her already short négligée a few precious inches. Miranda closed her eyes and hummed in satisfaction. “The way they feel against my skin is, well…”
“What?” Andrea asked, her voice hoarse. “What do they feel like?”
Miranda opened her eyes and smiled. “Sinful,” she twisted her tongue around the word.

Too many things to be said and none of them came out. Instead, Roxie tripped over her tongue, warmth spreading all over her. Watching Velma sashay away, cackling, was the tipping point: out, guttural, Roxie growled, “I hate you.”
Velma turned around, wearing a knowing, cloying smile. “What was that?”
Pointless question. She knew ’cause it wasn’t anything either of them were strangers to hearing. She knew and she was striding one long leg over the other, cat-walking to Roxie, fury-mute, unable to look away.
“We’re going to get back into form,” Velma said, coming to a stop right in front of Roxie. “My legs and yours and our arms. Then we’re going to do my move and we’re going to get it right on the first try because I know what I’m doing and,” she said, rolling her head to a nonexistent audience, “as much as it pains me to admit, so do you. Now you do, anyway. Because of me whipping you into shape.” She spun to Roxie. “I hate that I need you to be worth shit in this town anymore, and sweetcheeks, you can say it loud and proud, too. But that’s fine and dandy! I told you before: I can work with hate.”

Young-il closes his eyes, grinning widely while he drops his head in his hands. “Please don’t start.”
It’s an endearing gesture of vulnerability from someone so level-headed. They’re both smiling and whatever prior gloom floated in the air before has dissipated. Replaced with calm joy.
“What matters is you made it in the end.” Playfully, Gi-hun lets out a breathy laugh, announcing, “I was starting to sweat, though.”
Embarrassed as he is, Young-il is a good sport about it, joking, “It was on purpose. To build anticipation for our victory.”
“I’m sure,” Gi-hun teases.

He shoved Seong Gihun’s face away, the other hand holding his mask tightly down. In the struggle, Inho caught Gihun’s gaze. Suspicion had taken over. There was suddenly too much clarity and alertness there. He could almost see the dots connecting inside the alpha’s head.
Then, realization set in, and rage, a vast and terrible rage–
“You,” Gihun snarled, catching Inho’s wrist in a punishing grip. “Show me your face.”

As soon as Gihun says the last sentence, something changes in The Frontman’s demeanor. A crack in the marble statue. He clenches his fist, a leather glove adorning his hand creaking in a way not much unlike a broken bone would, and as pleasure sinks into his heart at the sight, Gihun finds himself yearning to look underneath the mask with a ferocity he’s never felt before. He wants to see those narrowed eyes, the flaring nostrils, the slight tremble of The Frontman’s lips as he bites back at Gihun. He understands, now — those words from earlier. 'That is what I wanted from you.'
Are they truly all that different, then, if he, too, longs for that man’s fury as if he would starve without it?

or: After Gihun's failed rebellion, he and The Frontman finally have a long overdue talk.
