Summary
Ilya Rozanov was not in love. Sure, maybe he had felt something for Sh- Hollander. And maybe he had tried to test the waters, see if the other man could feel the same. But that had backfired. Spectacularly.
Shane Hollander had a problem. Well, actually, he had a lot of problems, but he had a system for most of them. One he didn’t have a system down pat for - at least, not yet - was feelings. He had them, oh boy did he have fucking feelings. The problem was when they got so big.
Post tuna melts, Ilya and Shane both separately develop Hanahaki, both believing the other does not love them. They each deal with it (or, more accurately, don't deal with it) in their own ways.

It's not the worst thing Cliff's ever done, by far, but he wouldn't exactly say he's proud of it either. It's surprisingly easy to get the number from Roz's phone, despite it being practically glued to his hand all the time. But 8 shots and 3 beers will do that to a man, Cliff supposes - even a Russian one.
He's doing this for Roz, and for the team. Sure, the boys had probably been joking when they'd mentioned going "straight to source" to solve The Montreal Jane Problem, but the last 6 weeks had been frankly unbearable. He wasn't sure what exactly Roz had done, but it had to be fixable. They'd been texting for years, for christ's sake. Undoubtedly messy and unconventional, but clearly this Jane was way more important than Roz was willing to admit. Maybe even to himself.
Maybe that was the problem.

Shane felt sick to his stomach as he heard noises of agreement. He looked at J.J. - the only other person of colour in the room - and saw the distant horror reflected in his eyes. It's a different sort of privileged trauma to be third-generation Canadian, to have established roots in the country but people still assume you weren't born here. The generational trauma is softer - the edges not sharp enough to make you bleed only bruise - but it was ingrained into their family in ways that others wouldn't even realize.
