Following the battle at New Vegas, Lucy heads out alone after The Ghoul - not caring that her feelings for him are likely one-sided, that he was literally heading out after his wife and child.
It was the right thing to do.
He'd betrayed her, but she'd felt the regret in the flex of his hand, in the gun he'd thrown her like a promise and an apology.
