Summary
Furuya's memories had always been a blur of sounds, smells and colors. It was a strange occurrence when he remembered something in detail. That had never bothered him, though. He didn't want to keep a million memories. Most of them weren't important, after all.
Sawamura's world was too bright. The colors were too intense, smells too pungent, sounds too loud, his own thoughts too noisy. His memories were a blur of sensations, everything so detailed nothing was prevalent.
And they meet.

Summary
Because Shane Hollander was perfect. Shane Hollander, who was talked about just as much as Ilya was. Shane Hollander, who had his parents come to every game, every event, every minute he was on the ice. Shane Hollander, who was young, but not stupid. Strong, fast, and competitive. It made Ilya feel, for the first time since he had landed in America, like he needed to push himself again. Not just for the fans, or his team, or even his family. He needed to be good for Shane.
OR
Ilya has a praise kink, and realizes he likes being Shane's loyal dog.

Summary
"My dad walked in on us kissing, so did Ryan Price. Rose somehow just knew, and Hayden found out because—"
"—Hayden knows?"
Apparently that was decidedly not what J.J wanted to hear. The expression that Shane maybe interpreted as 'shocked' and 'slightly irritated', morphed into one that was definitely 'angry'. Shane felt a stone settle in his stomach as he realized that this was it. He was losing J.J's friendship.
Or,
Shane tells J.J that his unrequited crush is actually a reciprocated relationship, and Shane cannot for the life of him figure out why this makes J.J. so pissed at Hayden.

Summary
“Ya loobloo ty—” Shane tries to repeat the Russian phrase that Ilya has told him more than once in the last five minutes but Ilya cuts him off abruptly.
“I love you.”
The numbers on Shane’s heart monitor skyrocket, so much that Yuna is tempted to call a nurse, or maybe take the elevator to the roof and scream until her throat is raw because this can’t be the real world, this must be some weird, crazy dream her mind must have come up with after too much wine.
“Ya tebya lyublyu,” Ilya says again. “Means I love you.”
After Marlow’s hit, in his confused state, Shane begs the trainers to tell Ilya that he is okay but they think Shane wants Ilya to come to the hospital with him, so they get him. And Ilya… goes.

Summary
"Shane, do you have any comment on allegations that your on-ice performance declined after you started your affair with Rozanov? Have you seen the blogger who has been re-analyzing your stats and making that case?"
Shane wrinkled his brow. "Don't call it an affair," he said, reflexively. "That makes it sound like we were cheating. And no, no comment."
"I will comment," Ilya said. "It is ridiculous."
"I'm sorry," Shane said, his brain just now catching up to the second half of the question. He really hated the word "affair." It had distracted him. Too much, apparently. "Did you say something about my stats?"
----
Or: Shane had no intention of giving the press any information about when he and Ilya started hooking up. Ever. It was so thoroughly nobody's business.
But what was he supposed to do, just let people be wrong about his stats?
(Set post-Long Game, with vague Long Game spoilers.)
