Against all odds, defying all expectations, the AI is strangely docile. Still equipped with a bucket over his head, Kinger lifts the bucket with one hand, meeting Pomni’s gaze when she looks up and finds her body suddenly cooperating again. Her avatar is no longer racked by glitches, she no longer flashes colors that she shouldn’t be — one second, she was unsteady, and the next, it was like nothing ever happened.

The avatar program was made to create a body that perfectly reflected a person, how they presented themselves to the world, and how they felt about themselves deep, deep down. Sure, there might’ve been a few bugs, but nothing in the circus worked exactly the way Caine had intended.

Pomni hadn’t actually been trying to do anything weird. She’d just been playing with the blocks in her room, seeing if she could make them slingshot out of the map. And she was only doing that because she had grown tired of listening to the others argue over whether or not Caine could actually be helped.
They had to try. It wasn’t wasted effort to try and make their lives more bearable even if they did escape later, and if anyone new appeared in the Circus after them, things would be better for them too. There wasn’t any downside to helping Caine fix himself when he so clearly wanted that to happen. He deserved what little freedom the Circus offered just as much as they did.

Caine’s Bubble-popping office crashout is instead a breakthrough, and he comes out of it deciding that instead of torturing and getting revenge on his guests, he is going to do whatever he can to earn their approval. Even if it means doing things that actively take up too much RAM for him to handle, like leaving their favorite adventures open all the time or giving them all special abilities or letting them all customize their models, etc. This leads to… a very glitchy, exhausted, and ready-to-collapse Caine, and his only hope is that the others realize what they’re doing to him before it’s too late.

Caine was fully recovered! Mostly! Sort of! He was definitely fully connected to the whole of the program, but given how badly everything had fared against the malware attack, he couldn’t exactly… use all of his program.
But that was fine! His players had waited long enough! Caine couldn’t just keep them waiting!
Caine spawned his model in front of his players, opened his mouth, and promptly fell out of the air and onto the ground.
