Summary
So that’s it, huh.
Mira does a better job at stifling her tears than Zoey, but she still feels a few warm drops run down her cheeks.
The hopes and dreams of being an idol at Sunlight Entertainment—hell, of being anything—are gone with a handwave from some guy in a suit and a paper that says “Thanks for auditioning”.
Before she can storm out as quickly as possible to save what little face she has left, Mira turns on her heel and freezes at the sight of Celine, the CEO of Sunlight Entertainment, watching her. That odd woman with the purple braid and mask floats behind her, eyes gleaming.
“Mira. Zoey.” Celine steps towards them. “Before you leave, I have an offer I’d like you to consider.”
Or: When Mira and Zoey, both running from difficult pasts, audition to become idols at Sunlight Entertainment (famous for its mysterious headliner idol Hunter) and fail, all hopes of meeting and training under Hunter go out the window until Celine makes them a different, surprise offer: train under Celine’s unknown ward Rumi instead.
(“Why us?” Zoey asks.
“Honestly,” Rumi says, “I think you're both really weird.”
Oh. Mira might kill her.)

Summary
“I have a better idea to wake you up,” Rumi says. Her hands begin to slowly run along Zoey’s sides, dragging the flannel with their soft movement until they meet in the middle where the shirt hangs open.
Zoey’s breath hitches as Rumi’s warm palms slip past the fabric and onto her bare skin. “Oh yeah?” Zoey swallows. “And what might that idea be?”
“Well, you see,” Rumi murmurs, the pads of her fingertips trailing downwards, tracing the lines of Zoey’s stomach before pressing against a thatch of dark curls, “I haven’t had breakfast yet. And I was thinking you might help me.”
Or: Zoey plans to wake herself up with coffee. Rumi has a different idea in mind.

Or: Alpha Rumi has long held the belief that only alphas and omegas belong together; that it's impossible to get satisfaction from same designation sex. When alpha Mira offers to fuck Rumi to test it, Rumi decides she can't pass up the opportunity to prove her point once and for all.

Summary
They drop their weapons and switch to body on body, sparring turning into grappling turning into pinning, sloppy wrestling matches with the goal of one ending atop the other.
Rumi’s pride demands that she win, that she prove her worth as alpha and leader, but she’s loathe to admit that she’s more a fan of losing than she is of the alternate, because losing means that she ends up exactly as she is now:
Pinned beneath a flushed Mira, sweating and stunning in the afternoon light.

Zoey clicks on the linked website and squints at one of the most atrociously designed webpages she’s ever seen, like something out of the early 2000s. In a way, though, the lack of polish is kind of a good sign.
Enough of a sign for Zoey to go “eh, fuck it” and dial the number.
Or: Alpha Zoey is a camp counselor ready to wrap up the end of the season when her camp gets hit by a wild summer storm. Searching for professional help to clear the debris, she stumbles upon a listing online for Ryu Rumi, a flirty lumberjack who can provide exactly what Zoey needs (and maybe a little more).

Celine’s rules have kept her alive. Celine’s rules have kept her safe and warm and loved. Celine loves her, and because she loves her, she tells her that she can’t bond with her pack, her girls. If they found out— if they found out, it would be over. Celine tells her that it would be over because they’d kill her, that they would use their weapons against her, but all Rumi hears is that it’d be over because they would stop loving her and maybe that would kill her before their blades ever could.
Rumi has always kept a tight leash on herself—until her control starts to slip.

Summary
After a rabies exposure, the virus must travel to the brain before it can cause symptoms. Therefore, the incubation period may last for weeks to months depending on several factors such as location of the exposure site (in relation to the brain) and age; in extremely rare cases it could be dormant for years.
Rumi thinks about this one frequently, lying in bed at night; the idea that you could be wasting away at any moment in your life. A poison in your veins with you none the wiser– like a ticking bomb just waiting to go off.
You would need to get bit or scratched first, of course, and if you took the right precautions you would likely never know. And Rumi has never been bitten anyway. She’s fine.

Summary
Rumi considered it—she normally gave in quickly—but the way she’d looked at her before she kissed her neck, and the way she’d reacted to Rumi threatening to leave and finish herself off, was echoing around her brain. She was forming a theory, and she needed to test it.
She hooked a finger under Mira’s choker, pressing her knuckle gently against her throat, and tugged. She felt more than heard the way it made Mira’s breath hitch. She did it again, and this time Mira’s nails dug in deeper involuntarily.
Which was a very interesting reaction.
While Zoey's away Mira learns something new about Rumi.
