“Todd,” Damian calls and when he gets no answer from Jason, he whimpers, “Drake.”
“I can't believe I'm saying this but he’s breaking my heart, dude."
“Shut up, don’t give in. It’s a trap.” Jason says. “It’s a trap —”
They lose both the battle and the war when Damian stops waiting for them and instead stumbles forward, almost drunkenly, and unceremoniously flops himself on Jason’s front, full-on crying against his chest.
“Jesus fuck, Baby-bat. Who do I have to kill?”
(Or the one where Jason and Tim come to the Manor on the early hours of the day after a long night of patrol and they find weird new kind of life form out of this world that cries with snot and all inside the Manor. It takes them some time, because they are both dumbasses, to convince themselves that's actually their little brother crying his eyes out.)

Regulus shows up at the Potters' house bleeding and hurt, which reveals something about James' relationship with him to Sirius.
Sirius has a hard time accepting many things, from Regulus being here to him and James being a thing.
Horrible truths are discovered, and in the end, Sirius could never really let go of caring for Regulus, even when he tried so hard to.

Summary
James Potter is determined to make his last year at Hogwarts boarding school - for the future excellence of British Society - the best one yet. He's finally back with his best friends (practically family), away from his step-parents, and slightly ahead in his sure to be hellish classes.
It's going to be great.
That is, until he actually arrives.
With Regulus Black - his best friend's enigma of a younger brother - returning to James' life as his new roommate, a new English teacher whose teaching tactics are only a bit unorthodox, and a love for acting growing out of the desolate wasteland his heart has become, James isn't so sure about this being his best year anymore.

Summary
James Potter loved Lily Evans from the moment he knew what it truly was to love anybody. But, in the end, it didn’t matter that James had declared that he would never love anyone else but Lily. Because he still lost her.
One year on from Halloween 1981, James is struggling to raise Harry alone whilst drowning in an impenetrable dark sea of grief, determined to never love again. Because, in his experience, to love, is to lose.
Luckily, Regulus Black knows quite a lot about loving and losing. And drowning, too, considering the fact that he survived the cave in 1979 and faked his death for two years, popping in to give Sirius the fright of his life on Halloween.
And, consequently, showing up just in time for the events that followed. The shattered remnants of people that the war left behind.
Maybe Regulus will be able to show James that it’s okay to extinguish the first love flame, whilst simultaneously giving him the parenting help he is too ashamed to ask for. And, in return, maybe James will manage to convince Regulus that love isn’t something you earn, something that always has a catch.
Maybe they just needed one another all along, to take that step into the daylight.
