Zanka stands up straighter and puffs his chest out, wrongly proud to be older than Enjin’s guess. “Nineteen.”
God, he’s still a fucking teenager.
“This isn’t what you think it is. That back there? It’s part of my job. You know, acting. It’s how I get tips.”
“But I don’t have a lot of money.”
Enjin knows this, and still, he egged Zanka on. Almost like he enjoyed it. That, he’ll keep to himself. He doesn’t want to give Zanka any more ideas than he already has.
“Right. So, go back inside. Find someone a little more appropriate for your attention. I can promise you, Zanka, it’s not me.” The boy looks like he might cry. “Hey, hey. Don’t do that. It isn’t you. You’re nice. Cute. A real catch, I’m sure. I’m just too old for this to be anything seri—“
A hand knots in the collar of his shirt, and suddenly, Enjin is jerked down. Of all the things he expected to happen here, Zanka having the balls to try and kiss him was last on the list.

Three strikes and he’s out.
It’s how this should work. If Enjin were a better man. If he didn’t just convince himself that all of FEMA’s warning signs are total bullshit. Who is he to condemn this boy to certain death over something that could be chalked up to a headache and some basic dental? He’s getting rusty. Or, soft. All it takes is a pitiful look and pretty face, and here he is ignoring basic Post-Cataclysm Survival 101.
Enjin pinches at the bridge of his nose. He’s only half convinced by the decision he settles on. It’s a gamble. Lucky for Zanka, it’s one he’s willing to take.
“It’s gettin’ a little packed in here, so you’ll have to bunk with me. That alright?”
“Huh?”Zanka looks up in utter disbelief.
“You heard me — you can stay.”

Amamiya wasn’t allowed in during shooting, of course. Akechi had told him he didn’t need to wait outside, but he had anyways. Standing like this, in a thin alley between cement and brick, in a pocket away from the propriety of TV sets and dressing rooms, Amamiya looks like a secret stowed away especially for him.
“You didn’t watch it for yourself?” He asks.
Amamiya shakes his head no. His eyes flick upwards, and his relaxed lean against the wall means Akechi can’t tell if he’s sizing him up or checking him out. Then, entirely too genuine by comparison, Amamiya just says, “I prefer seeing you like this.”
Akechi’s first thought is that he’s definitely in love.
His second thought is that he needs to kill Amamiya.
The third is that if things don’t change, he might need to kill himself, too.
The only thing more embarrassing than killing the first and only friend you've ever made is getting a crush on him. Akechi is handling that humiliation about as well as one can expect.

Dunk, an omega too large and too strong to ever be suspected of being one, was riding for Ashford when he felt his heat coming on. He drank a serum to delay it, enough to last to the end of the tourney — had he not crossed paths with a young unmated alpha who smelled of tar, smoke, and blood: Aerion Targaryen.
During the Trial of Seven, Dunk fought through pain and fever; but when he found himself one-on-one with Aerion, he knew the prince had caught his scent. It distracted the young dragon long enough for Dunk to land the blow that made him yield. The victory tasted bitter and dishonest, though, and there was no way for Dunk to explain himself without bringing worse trouble on his own head. He needs to leave.
And just as he means to, the wind brings him the smell of tar, smoke, and blood.
