So, imagine moving to a new town and just hoping to live my best independent girlie life. You know, new me, new vibes maybe a sprinkle of self-discovery like every TikTok guru keeps hyping.
But life, being the cosmic comedian it is, decided to rail me sideways and not even the fun kind. I was prepped for the usual crap like overpriced rent, part-time job misery, existential dread over university homework, my mom’s “you’re throwing your life away” rants. Real fun stuff.
Instead, I find a demon squatting in my storage unit. Because, of course.

“Oh wow,” Dani huffs an awkward laugh, “I hate whenever elevators do that, it always makes me think they’re gonna–”
Then a loud bang emanates out from above them and the lights flicker ominously.
“The fuck…” Jamie murmurs, before the lift gives another great shudder and Jamie’s stomach momentarily flips as she feels more than sees the elevator come to a sudden stop.
“Did we just…” Dani Clayton begins, her breath noticeably more labored.
“No,” Jamie whispers, increasing in volume as she says, “no, no, no, no,” because yes, Jamie knew immediately without any other confirmation.
They just got stuck.
Or, Jamie's already a nervous wreck about her best woman speech she's giving for Owen and Hannah's wedding, but when she gets stuck in an elevator before the reception, she's not sure how her day can get much worse.
Well, there's always being stuck with her least favorite bridesmaid, the annoying, pretty, annoyingly pretty Dani Clayton.
