Summary
Cas had meant what he'd said to Dean. Dean had changed him. He'd thought himself incapable of change. As it turns out, change is involuntary. It's the acknowledgment of change that requires participation.
Perhaps he should have known that his death would not be permanent. It is, perhaps, the only lesson he has failed to learn. Still, he likely would not have been quite so candid if he'd known something more than eternal slumber awaited him.
But change is eternal, and Cas refuses to go backwards.
