He doesn’t like to think about her anymore. His heart’s still raw whenever reminders of her appear, and the nightmares come whenever someone mentions her name. So he avoids her at all costs, shuts down the part of his brain that’s stuck on grief. He knows it’s disrespectful of her memory, but if he spends too long thinking, too long acknowledging, too long missing her again, he’ll break.
So instead, Clint dives headfirst into a relationship that isn’t a relationship. You know, like a healthy person.

“You’re not a bad guy, are you?” Bucky asks, because he really doesn’t have the energy for another fight right now.
He hears a snort, “No, I’m on your side.”
