“Your version of strip poker?” Shane asks him.
“Maybe,” Ilya spoke back as he moved his hands down to the waistband of his jeans, waiting for Shane to settle back again before posing his next question.

There were many things about Shane's upbringing in Canada that Ilya found hard to understand. Like why he insisted on hiking into the brush to find the "perfect" marshmallow sticks for a bonfire. To Ilya, it seemed like a lot of unnecessary effort and a high risk of mosquito bites when they could just buy a pack of skewers and be done with it.
But, like with everything that came with Shane Hollander, Ilya had learned to love it.
And now here he was, years later, the one leading Shane and their kids through the woods behind the cottage on this warm summer evening.

"Well," Ilya said, pressing a kiss to the curve of Shane's stomach through his shirt. Then another. "You are old man. And you are giving me the most precious gift of all. So yes. Is accurate, I would say."
