Summary
Will was speechless. Mike lifted his gaze to Will, almost unsure of who he was looking at — his cheeks tinted red and those stupid glasses sitting too low on his face —, until Mike's face lit up completely. Mike threw himself at Will, wrapping his arms around Will's neck and burying his face in his shoulder, making Will stumble a couple steps back. Different emotions flashed on Will's face: shock, confusion, settling with embarrassment as his face grew red like Mike's.
"Mike! Stop being a big baby, get off of Will!" Dustin attempted and failed to pull Mike away, only making Mike hold Will tighter.
Mike is drunk and decides that is the best time to take the phrase "liquid courage" seriously to confess his feelings to Will.

Summary
Mike Wheeler was clumsy. Or that was what he called himself anyway — Nancy insisted it was impulsivity and attention seeking, but her opinion mattered little to Mike. Biking to and from school, roughhousing, running around because of tag or some other game they came up with in the afternoon, could cause all kinds of accidents.
And it was fine, Mike could deal with holding back tears as his hands stung from a scrape or from hitting his forehead on a glass door. It was fine — until Mike found out a special way to get rid of the pain.
Or Mike gets hurt all the time and Will kisses it better. Then, when Will is hurt, he follows the example.

“It’s okay. I know it’s… hard for you.”
“Yeah,” Mike exhales through his mouth. With the way Will is spread out on the bed, his shorts have ridden up on his thighs and it’s making it hard to breathe—Will is all comfortable and unguarded, and Mike can sense more than see the vein running up the side of his knee, along his inner thigh and then even higher up.
Mike’s eyes rest there for a second. He imagines following the scent, his nose pressed to Will’s skin. Pushing the fabric of his shorts out of the way, all the way up to his groin. Burying his teeth just underneath the junction of it, where the skin is softest and the vein pulsing warmest.
Or, Mike returns from the Upside Down changed, with a newfound hunger for blood—Will’s blood, specifically. It’s getting harder and harder to resist.

Summary
Will steps into the woods. Birds chirp around him, and squirrels run up the trees. It's been six months since Vecna was finally defeated, and now everyone is finally beginning to settle. Everyone except for Will. He can't seem to get out of fight or flight mode, and everything's been wrong. His body feels off, heavy and achy, while his concentration is shot. No one noticed when he stopped showing up to things, stopped answering his radio. El will chatter every night about what her and Mike were up to that day.
And it seems to take all of Dustin's energy to keep moving, and to show up himself. Lucas is with Max, and no one noticed when Will started to fade into the background. He knew if he stopped trying, this is what would happen. He knew as soon as he had to beg for their attention. It's ok though, he's always known his place. And now it's fine for him to step back, and let them all breathe without him. Every morning he takes another walk like this one, trying to chase away the ache in his joints that make it hard to move. Part of him knows that he should say something, that this isn't normal pain.
That something is seriously wrong, but he can't bring himself to.
